began as two friends considering opening a shop together back in
1987. Tim Abbas, an exhaust installer with 15 years experience in
bolt-on and complete custom exhaust systems. Scott Young, a truck
body fabricator with 13 years experience hand-building truck bodies
for such companies as SDG&E, PacBell and the Santa Fe Railroad. They
purchased a bender and began working in the evenings and on weekends
out of Scott's garage in Santee, California. As it goes, the “Little
Old Lady Across the Street” turned them into the city. Unable to
work out of the garage, they found two bays in a nearby auto mall
and in March 1989 Express Muffler was born. Approximately three years
later the name evolved to Express Muffler & Hitch as the hitch side
of the business was growing.
In 1992 Scott met Barbara who not only became his wife, but a
business partner and helped grow the business in other directions. A
graduate of USD, Barbara's Graphic Design and Marketing/Consumer
Behavior background, as well as her 10 years of previous retail sales
experience, added a missing element which helped propel the business
to the next level.
Family owned and operated, the Express Team is made up of regular
people much like our customers. We work hard and value time with
our family and friends traveling to the desert, river or just
hanging out during our free time. Many of our employees have been
with the company for 8-12 years making them a part of our extended
family.
Over the years the business expanded throughout San Diego County
opening three more locations, Kearny Mesa in 1994, Chula Vista in
1995, and Escondido in 2002.
Then, eight years ago we expanded yet again, developing the internet
website and mail order side of the business as ExpressDistributing.com and ExpressRV.com. We are not just another
dot-com... our knowledge of the products we sell goes beyond knowing
part numbers. The products we sell and ship nationwide, we also
install and our technicians have years of experience. Our team is
made up of professionals in their specialty and are happy to answer
your questions or concerns. We take pride in personalized
service and our goal is to give our customers the best value
possible. Integrity is a priority for us. At Express function comes
before fashion.
Over the years, as our customer needs have grown, the products and
services we provide have also and so, we changed our name to reflect
these changes. Now as Express Performance Center we carry an extensive
line of Truck, Jeep & SUV Accessories from leading manufacturers. We

July 2008…It’s official we’re moving. After 4+ years of planning and
construction, continuing our efforts to provide greater service &
selection, we’ve consolidated all our locations. You can still
expect to find an extensive line of products and that high quality
service you’ve come to expect from Express. Going into our 20th Year
in business our goal is to continue providing top-level products and
services at a competitive rate. We are excited to have you check out
our new 5,000 SF Showroom & Expanded Installation Facilities.
